Our History
Early Years
When Walt's son Sidney DeBoer took over the business in 1968, he recognised the business and purchased a Dodge dealership in 1970 in Medford.
1990 - 1995
By 1990, Lithia had a total of 5 stores spanning 19 franchises.
1995 - 2000
Lithia Motors went public in December 1996, trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
2000 - 2005
By 2003, Lithia was employing over 5,000 people with 84 dealerships across the US. By 2005, this had increased to 88.
2005 - 2010
Lithia Motors purchased DCH Auto Group in 2006, broadening their reach to the West Coast. This constant growth showed Lithia were one to watch in the automotive sector.
2010 - 2020
Another milestone was acquiring Baierl Motor Group in 2017 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This was the first retail reach into Pennsylvania and included brands such as Cadillac, Kia and Chevrolet.
2020 - Now
Lithia Motors continues to grow and dealerships now stretch across the UK since the acquisitions of Jardine Motors in March 2023 and Pendragon in February 2024. The coming together of these two businesses is what we now know as Lithia UK. These additions include the Evans Halshaw and Stratstone businesses providing Lithia UK with a whole range of brands from volume to prestige. As of May 2024, Lithia owns 298 stores in the US and 170 in the UK.
